ABC Preschool

I got to teach preschool again this week. My theme was the review of the ABC's. I had so much fun with this one. Read lots of stories about the ABC's sang the song over and over, they really liked that song, put an ABC puzzle...

For lunch we had alphabet soup and really yummy letter cookies.

We were spotting all kinds of letters in our soups.

 This was a extra activity that I had on hand and it turned out that we had time to do it. I had got some licorice and gave them some to eat and the rest we made letters out of.

I was glad that I goth the ABC review, because I was able to use one of my favorite books, Chicka Chicka, Boom Boom. We read that and then made trees and put the letters up in the trees. And then read the story again see their art in action. It was a fun time.

T is for Tooth Fairy Bag

This week I taught preschool and the letter was the Letter T.

One of the things we read / sang about was teeth.

I made these Tooth Fairy Bags for the kids.

I copied the idea from HERE. 

I loved it because I got to use felt.

Super Easy Church Themed Quiet Books

I was reading this blog that I like, she had a link to these SUPER EASY to make church themed quiet books. Turns out that this blog is also cute with cute ideas, there are so many out there. Any way I wanted to pass this onto any of you, my friends and family who might want to make these. It is SUPER EASY (I think, I might have already said that ) but I will tell how easy.

Go to Simply Fresh Design . On this page you scroll through and there are three quiet books (Book of Mormon stories, Prophets and Apostles, and We Believe) and also these really cute Article of Faith cards. You Click the texts that says for the download. Then you can go upload it to Costco.com or Walmart.com photo thingy. For theses four books it was a total of 87 pictures about $13.00. Then you can go to the dollar store and pick up a photo book to slide the pictures in. And it is ready to go. I plan on doing these ones for my kids so they can have something quiet to look at and read during church- my other methods are not working.

Bag Madness

This Chair is becoming such a model.

I got another pattern for a bag and so I gave it a try.

I love the pattern it was so easy to use and didn't take that much fabric to make. And another bonus is I use duck cloth as the interfacing, which was fun because I have never used it before and it work out very well. As you can see the bag is reversible and looks so cute on both sides. And it only took me three hours to sew together. Now cutting out is a different story- I had four kids needing my help every five minutes so it took awhile.

And the lucky owner of this fun bag is Alycia. I hope she likes it.

One More Year Down at the Bilquist Bazaar.

I knew the bazaar was coming and I had many ideas rolling around in my head, but I never seemed to get to them. We had Super Thursday for Enrichment this year and they made these scrabble tile necklaces. I thought that would be easy to do (since I only had two weeks before the bazaar). So I sat down and started making them. I decided to do paper piecing with them. I had to take my glasses off and use tweezers to put them together, the necklaces are only a 1 inch circle. If you want to learn how to make them, here is a link to tutorial my friend Tiffany has on her cute blog, she is the one that taught the class at super Thursday.

I drove up with my friend Cathy to Portland, (I am so grateful for her driving through the snow for me). It was a lot fun to have her come up with me and meet some of my family, go to New Moon with my sister and me, and partying into the night. Serena and Cathy helped get the necklaces done in the nick of time (Friday night at 11 p.m.). And they were bagged and ready to go.

I shared a table with my cousin Lisa. She sold her awesome monkeys. One lady even told Lisa that her daughter had decorated her daughter's bedroom around one of Lisa's monkeys. They are so cute. She sold out of her Batman monkeys.

Heidi at her table, right next to mine. She made these really cute doorstops out of landscape pavers. They were really cute, she does a great job with toll painting, I wish I had that talent. She also had a lot cute Christmas items.

Melissa was at the next table over and she sold reversible cape for kids, scrapbooks where you insert you own photos and some other cute items. She did really well with her capes they were a hot item.

It was a great weekend and so much fun being able to hang out with friends and family. I look forward to it every year. I just need to stay on top of it and not wait to the last minute to make the items so that I am not stressed.

Dress design for Shabby Apple Dresses

I design this dress for the Shabby Apple Dresses Dare to design contest. I have always loved the style of 50's and 60's dresses, and found inspiration in that era. I loved the empire waist on this dress making the waist seem longer with the ribbon wrapped around the waist,a satin ribbon matching the color of the fabric. The same ribbon would be on the hem of the dress, cap sleeves and the neck. The skirt of the dress would flow around you as you walk. I picture it in a light weight cotton in a bright but soft color, like Periwinkle or Cornflower Blue a fun spring color. To match the flowers that blooming in the spring.

7 Months In The Making

Spring Break this year I borrowed this pattern from my cousin Lisa, she made this awesome bag and I wanted one. When I got the pattern from her, I found this really cute fabric to use. Bought it. And there it sat in the bag until about a week ago (that's seven months).

This school year I babysit two kids, a four month old girl and a two an half boy, during the day. So my days are filled. But last week both kids that I watch were sick for a week, so my days opened up. I wanted to get Alycia a gift for her birthday and so I made her a bag too. I made them both at the same time. It made the process a little longer, but I got them done.

This the bag that I made for me. It is a little bigger then Alycia's but I like it still. I chose this fun orange for the inside that matches the butterflies on the outside and the dots on the handles. I love the bag it makes me Happy.

I bought the amount of fabric that it asked for on my bag, and I had a lot of fabric left over. So when I bought the fabric for Alycia's bag I bought less (the amount that I thought that I needed) but it turned out that hers it had a bird on it that I should of accounted for when getting the fabric,so that all the birds would be going the same way. I made hers 1 1/2 inch smaller on each side. Made it smaller but I liked it. For the inside I used a baby blue fabric with white circles on it.

This is the first time I use an Amy Butler pattern, but I really enjoyed it. It was easy to understand and she walked you through each step, to where you could understand what you are doing. Bilquist Bazaar

Last Saturday I was able to do the Bilquist Bazaar again. It was my fifth year doing it with Heidi Ard. I love doing it, because it gives me an excuse to hang out with friends for a whole day with out kids. This year Melissa Karl and Lisa Newby did it with us. It was a lot of fun. We saw a lot old friends and the day went faster then in the past. I made tutu's with flower petals in them, chalkboard placemats, and placemat bags. Can't wait for next year and figure out the new thing to make and sell, need to get my thinking cap on. And make the things sooner then a week before the bazaar.
