Today the kids didn't have school so we dyed eggs.
It was so much fun.
It was Karlee's first year to dye eggs and she really got into it. She tasted the egg and the dye. Luckily vinegar doesn't hurt you. She even had fun coloring in them before putting it into the dye.
Before we started the dying the eggs, they ask why I was putting the paper down. Jaron has an example why I did. He was excited to watch it change colors.

Got to love Kelsie, she love her Micheal pajama's (Peter Pan) and wears them whenever she is home. The eggs turned out great all bright colors.
Any time we go to the Oregon Coast we have to make a stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Go on a tour to watch the cheese being made. You could stare at that for hours, when it is doing the same thing over and over. It is kind of hypnotizing.
The tour leads you to the cheese tasting area. They have a new station setup. Which then leads you into the gift shop. Where you have to pick up squeaky cheese and homemade caramel.
Onto the the ICE CREAM. YUM!! (Look at all those people in the background, I think they had the same idea of trying to get out of the rain on spring break.)

We hope to make it back to Tillamook for the Dairy Days in June it is such a fun parade. We had such a fun time at the coast, and made fun memories. Even through the rain and chocolate milk. (At lunch Karlee grabbed Kelsie chocolate milk off the table and dumped it on top of her. I had to give her a bath in the sink in Safeway bathroom. Fun times.)
Have you ever wonder why it is refer to as the Oregon Coast rather the Oregon beaches like in California. I have a good guess. The weather. So on Thursday we went to the Coast. We drove to Seaside had lunch and the candy store and then made our way to Tillomook Cheese Factory. With a stop at Rockaway Beach. As we traveled on Hwy 101 the rain was just dropping on us in buckets. Kyle not thinking that it would not dry enough for us to get out. But when we got to Rockaway Beach the rain let up for 40 minutes where we were able to get out and play in the sand. Grandma had gotten the kids sand buckets and kite to use at the beach. I had them roll up their pants and get their flip flops on and play in the sand. We didn't attempt the kites because I think the kids would of flying themselves the wind was blowing so hard.
We set Karlee on the sand, and she acted as if she was standing on hot coals and was grasping at Kyle to pick her back up. She spent the remaining time on the beach in Kyle's arms. I wonder why she didn't like sand this time?
As you can see from Kallie's coat that the wind was really blowing- but she is playing it up a little bit which was so funny to watch. At one point she had fallen over because of the wind.
Here the kids are trying to enjoying the sand and build some sand castles, but some were not enjoying it that much. Serena came up with the idea to go next to rocks, which was a great idea because the wind not right on top of you there and the kids enjoyed the sand more.
I tried to get them all to look at me and say cheese. This is the result. But they are having fun and didn't want to leave when it was time to go.

On Thursday we headed to the coast and anytime you head to coast you have to bring back salt water candy. And the best place to get is The Candyman Store in Seaside. I may not like salt water candy because it gets stuck in my teeth really bad, but you can not help your self to buying some when going to this store. This is a picture when we first enter the store. (Mom-you can kind of see the hair cut that I got on Monday.) The store kind of just draws you in-the song Candy Man is playing over the loud speaker outside and also inside. I think if you worked there you would get sick of that song really fast. But when you are a customer it adds to groove of the store. I also love the colorful floor- I think this is new from the last time I went.
Just walking past display case makes your mouth water. As you can see Kallie is loving it. She also got her money ready to buy something.
When you get in there you are able to spin the wheel to win some salt water candy. I think they have it rigged that you won't win the big prize, but everyone gets one free taffy. Karlee is giving the wheel a spin- come on big money. She was so amazed by the wheel, stood there for ever watching everyone give it a spin.
Of course they have other candy too. We found this sucker that was the size of Kyle's head they wanted $39.99 for it. There was another one that was twice this size that cost $399.99. I figure that had to be a type-o or something. Really a sucker for $400.00 no way.
The kids had fun walking through the rows and rows of salt water candy and picking out their favorite. There is 170 different kinds. Here are the kids with their bags if goodies.
It has been final for awhile but I forgot to let you know. We are going to Corvallis. Population 49,332 make that 49,338. We are excited to go and have new adventures. Over Spring break we drove around Corvallis. Also able to go in see the hospital.
Spring break is finally here. Oh and how grateful I was for it to come-Family Time. We headed up to Portland for Spring Break but decided to just take it nice and slow. We usually just drive straight up and straight back never stopping and check out the sites.
We left our house at nine in the morning. Headed up 97 and then to 58. We heard that there is this really beautiful waterfall on 58, so we stop to take a look. You couldn't get past the parking lot it was snowed in. We will just have to check it out another time. We stopped in Oakridge (which is the halfway point to Portland) at this cute little park and had lunch. Let the kids play and checked out the river that runs past the park. Read the history about the area there was a wagon train that thought they would take a shortcut , but turned out that it was even harder then the way they were going and the rescue party was from Oakridge area. And there also was this cool totem pole (picture moment).
When you are almost off of 58 you pass this cover bridge, and every time I have wanted to stop and look. Finally I got the chance. It was really cool to read the history of cover bridges, which they have as you walk up to the bridge. The bridge is not in use for cars anymore but you can walk on it and see display about cover bridges and how there made back in the day.
This is inside the bridge, I was amazed by all the wood that was used and how stable it must be. That is Kelsie hanging on the side, checking out the water that you can see below.
After stopping at the bridge we decided to take the back roads to Corvallis just for something different. It was so pretty driving through there. So green and with many flowers in bloom. We stopped in Corvallis, well we didn't get out there. We just drove around looking at all the places. We drove past the hospital where Kyle is going to be next year. Drove past the school that I would like the kids to go to, that is if we can find a house in that area. Drove past the church buildings and just checked out the town- it looks like a cute place. We then drove over to Albany and had to check out the Target- and see how close we were going to be to one. :0) Not to bad only about 15 minutes away and I hear there is Costco close to Target but we didn't go find it. Then back onto I-5. Just before you head into Salem you past this on the side of the road. It has been a land mark that we look for every time we go up or back. Jaron is really into Transformers so he gets a kick out of it to see it.
Finally we made our way to Portland and into my parents house about 6 pm. It was a nice drive up and it didn't seem like we were in the car for nine hours. It also helped that I had a really good book that I couldn't put down, The Hunger Games. And the kids did really good too.
As we were getting dressed to take Kelsie to school. Karlee came to me wearing these pants (well pants to her but shorts to Jaron). She was so mad that they wouldn't stay up. I went and got suspenders that used to be my brothers, to help keep them up.

It was so awesome it made me smile all day. She kept the outfit on all day and got mad if you tried to take it off. I tried to teach her the lollipop song, but all I was getting was POP and POP.We represent the Lollipop Guild
Happy Green Day! Today I drove past the kid's school during recess and it was a sea of all shades of green. It was cool see. Did you wear your green or did you get pinch? I love how the kids get excited for the holidays. They were so excited to wear green today. And even tried speaking Irish after school. So funny.I also wanted to make today fun for the kids somehow. Yesterday I was talking to my sister Emily on Facebook and she said that she was going to make rainbow kabobs with her kids. I thought that would be fun. This morning I gave the kids Lucky Charms, to give them luck of the Irish during school. After I picked Kelsie up from school we went to the store and picked up some fruit. Came home, I had the kids help me make a rainbow of fruit, green eggs (I love the color that the eggs turned out), green milk, Cinnamon rolls, bacon and green milk for dinner.The kids loved helping make dinner. Jaron was so into cutting the fruit.

I had to keep telling Kallie and Jaron to stop eating the fruit and to eat some eggs and Cinnamon roll, never thought I would have to tell my kids to stop eating fruit. :0) So they really enjoyed the rainbow of fruit flavors.

For St. Patrick's Day I thought I would make it fun this year and do some different things to ring the holiday in. I found this Walt Disney Movie at the Library and it look St Patricky so I checked out. Planned to watch it with the kids while wearing green and eating Irish sundae (potato bar). But tonight the kids and I had some extra time so we sat down and watch the show. I thought I had seen it before- I don't think so. The whole time I was telling the kids that there was no scary parts. I lied without knowing it. At the end it was scary. My two oldest were under the blanket while Kelsie (who is four) was like "YES! it's scary" and was excited. She loves scary movies. Anywho now the kids are freaked out to go to sleep. I hope that the Lucky Charms that I plan on giving them for breakfast on the 17th doesn't scare them too. I hope you have a Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
*On a side note for all you Sean Connery fans that is him in that picture just a young one. He was 29 when he made the film. I had a hard time telling it was him, I don't think it look like him. What do you think?
Kelsie is into making up songs right now. And they are just random out of the blue. Today when Kelsie and I were driving home from school. She started singing this song, I had to catch it on tape it made me laugh.
Today was the draw for externship for Kyle’s senior year. Let me tell you it was a stressful time. It might have been better if I had not have gone to witness it with Kyle. The draw was at ten this morning. Kyle dress in his lucky interview clothes (which is a dress shirt, tie and dress pants), so I decided to dress nicer then my usual tennis shoes and jeans too. There were three other students and spouses that had also dressed up.
We get there and get our seats. All of his advisors are up front, along with one of the nuc med techs from the hospital, Sky Lakes here in Klamath Falls. All 17 hospital names have been written on the board. The advisors crack a couple jokes to lighten the mood- but the mood stay about the same. Each junior was handed a tag with their name written on it. (I should have taken a picture of Kyle’s). Rick, one of the advisors, explains to the group again what is going happen and then we get started…
There are two white buckets. One has written on it “Bucket -O-Fate”, in that bucket is all the names of the 17 hospitals. The other bucket is just plain white, which is the bucket that your name goes into if you want to go that hospital. Bruce (the tech from the hospital) draws the first hospital, it is not on our top five pick so we don’t put his name in. Two more pass. Finally Salem is called and that is one of ones we wanted so in his name goes in the bucket. The draw is…Jennifer. I am okay with that I didn’t really have my heart set on Salem. Two more pass.
Kaiser is called. My heart jumped and I sit on the edge of my seat. This was the one that we were hoping for. It is back in the Portland area, in Clackamas County and back where family is, I could keep on going why we wanted this one-but I won’t. Kyle had said that no one else had mentioned anything about Kaiser; I thought we had a good chance. As the bucket went around the room, it seemed like everyone was putting their name in but it was probably just four people, but still that is a lot. As the advisor walked back up to the front of room, I held my breath and Rick drew the name…Kelvin. I was crushed; it was like a flood gate had open up, I tried to bite my lip so it wouldn’t seem like I was crushed that we didn’t get it. But I don’t think that worked, cause Kyle and Ryan (is Kyle’s BFF in the program) were telling me it was going to be okay and work out just fine. One of the advisors walked over and handed me the box of tissues. I think a couple more hospital names were called, I couldn’t tell you what they were or who got it. I was trying to “collect” myself.
Finally when I focused back in I realized Kyle was just putting his name into every Portland hospital. Even if he didn’t want to go there; I was grateful. But to no avail… his name was never picked for any Portland ones. I was sick to stomach, why were we not headed back home to Portland?
One of our last top five was called, Corvallis. The bucket went around; six people including Kyle dropped their name into the bucket. The name was called……. KYLE. I was in utter shock; Corvallis of all places. I know we had talked about it, but I didn’t think we would go. I guessed you could see that on my face, because Kyle kept saying don’t worry we can still trade. That put a little hope back for me.
The draw ended. A couple people chatted but others left quickly.
I was in shock that we got Corvallis; Kyle tried to work a deal with a couple of the others students for a trade. But there was one that wouldn’t do it. So I think we are headed to Corvallis but it is not set in stone until Monday at noon.
I am becoming okay with the idea of going to Corvallis. As I was doing the dishes this afternoon, I had an epiphany; Heavenly Father has made it possible for us to go to school. We look back and see his hand all through this time. And he must have a reason that we are going to go to Corvallis. The reason I can say this is because there were four people that got exact spot that they needed; either because they had free housing or it was close as they could get to be with their love ones. I know Heavenly Father has a plan for us and I have Faith that he will make everything work out.
But if you know of any housing in Corvallis, close to the Hospital, that isn’t too expensive, pass it on to us. Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts as we went for the draw. Thanks also for bearing with me on my story of my experience.
