Santa's Visit

This year my sister and I took the kids to see Santa the day after Thanksgiving. Since I have not been able to fine one here in town. I wanted to see him while up in Portland. I got all the kids dressed in their Christmas outfits and headed to the mall, I thought there would be less people at the mall in the afternoon (since it was Black Friday). I was wrong there was more people there at 3 p.m. then there was at 9 a.m. . But there was no line for Santa. Yay! We walked right up to see him. Karlee took some coaxing to sit with him. And it never really took. Plus to get all four kids to look at the camera at once is not possible... as you can see below.

One More Year Down at the Bilquist Bazaar.

I knew the bazaar was coming and I had many ideas rolling around in my head, but I never seemed to get to them. We had Super Thursday for Enrichment this year and they made these scrabble tile necklaces. I thought that would be easy to do (since I only had two weeks before the bazaar). So I sat down and started making them. I decided to do paper piecing with them. I had to take my glasses off and use tweezers to put them together, the necklaces are only a 1 inch circle. If you want to learn how to make them, here is a link to tutorial my friend Tiffany has on her cute blog, she is the one that taught the class at super Thursday.

I drove up with my friend Cathy to Portland, (I am so grateful for her driving through the snow for me). It was a lot fun to have her come up with me and meet some of my family, go to New Moon with my sister and me, and partying into the night. Serena and Cathy helped get the necklaces done in the nick of time (Friday night at 11 p.m.). And they were bagged and ready to go.

I shared a table with my cousin Lisa. She sold her awesome monkeys. One lady even told Lisa that her daughter had decorated her daughter's bedroom around one of Lisa's monkeys. They are so cute. She sold out of her Batman monkeys.

Heidi at her table, right next to mine. She made these really cute doorstops out of landscape pavers. They were really cute, she does a great job with toll painting, I wish I had that talent. She also had a lot cute Christmas items.

Melissa was at the next table over and she sold reversible cape for kids, scrapbooks where you insert you own photos and some other cute items. She did really well with her capes they were a hot item.

It was a great weekend and so much fun being able to hang out with friends and family. I look forward to it every year. I just need to stay on top of it and not wait to the last minute to make the items so that I am not stressed.

Yes I Am A Twilight FANatic!!

If you haven't heard the second movie in the Twilight series NEW MOON came out Friday morning at 12:01...I was there at that time and it is AWESOME!!!

Way better then the first, I can't wait to see how awesome the next two movies will be.

(Sorry I love to use the word Awesome for things that put me in awe. And this did.)

It was such a fun night, let me share all about it.

There is only one theater here in town and they were showing Twilight (#1) at 9pm on Thursday. A friend had talk the theater into letting her put on a party in between Twilight and New Moon. So you didn't have to wait outside. I was so for that because I am one that does not like the cold, (oh but I do love the "cold ones"). You had to buy a ticket to Twilight and New Moon to go to the party. We watched Twilight- it was good to watch it right before New Moon that way everything was fresh in your mind. The party was awesome. She had called around and got all these people to donate stuff. We played a Twilight trivia game and had blast. Then when the light went out the screams came for all our favorite characters. (Okay I wasn't one of the screaming but I thought it was cute the others would.)It was an AWESOME movie and night.

Before New Moon (11/19/09)

On Saturday I went with my sister, her friend, and Cathy to see it again. It was just as good the second time as the first time. But this time I notice that there was a lot of product placement throughout the movie, but that is alright with me just means more money to make the movie better. I can't wait for Eclipse in 2010.

Not A Winner

A couple post ago I posted a dress that I had designed for Shabby Apple dare to design contest. Well they finally posted the 15 finalist, and I was not one of them.

I was so hoping to be... But was not meant to be.

I guess my days of being a Fashion designer are not here yet.

But until it does happen or I just dream about it.

18 Months Already...

Where has the time gone.

This past week my little lady turned 18 months. She is now moving into Nursery. She is excited to go in the beginning but is not so sure about in the end. She is a very busy little thing, nothing slows her down. I took her to the doctor for her 18 month check up and she weighs 18 lbs and 6 oz. and is 31 inches. I love her so much and I can't believe how fast she is growing up.

Happy Halloween!!

For Halloween this year we went up to the Portland area for a good friend's baptism. It was a really good weekend. It went fast but was good. The baptism was up in Vancouver so we stayed up there and went Trick or treating with our friends. We were in a group of about 20 kids. It started out with that many kids going to each door, but by the end it dwindled down to smaller groups. I was in the group that had Karlee, okay by it was just me, Heidi, and Karlee. She really got into trick or treating nothing slowed her down (she even tripped a couple times but got right back up and kept going.) She would knock on the door and say trickortreat all slurred together. They would give candy and then she would say thankyooou all slurred together. It was really cute.

Kallie was a cheerleader. Jaron was a JaWa from Star Wars (his eyes even blinked red like in the movie). Kelsie was a good witch. And Karlee was a ladybug.

Dress design for Shabby Apple Dresses

I design this dress for the Shabby Apple Dresses Dare to design contest. I have always loved the style of 50's and 60's dresses, and found inspiration in that era. I loved the empire waist on this dress making the waist seem longer with the ribbon wrapped around the waist,a satin ribbon matching the color of the fabric. The same ribbon would be on the hem of the dress, cap sleeves and the neck. The skirt of the dress would flow around you as you walk. I picture it in a light weight cotton in a bright but soft color, like Periwinkle or Cornflower Blue a fun spring color. To match the flowers that blooming in the spring.
