SUPER

My friend posted this on Facebook as her status. I loved it so much and it is my thoughts to, that I had to post it my blog...

I am many things. Today, as most days, I am Mom. And today, I would love to do a Super Spin and become Super Mom. I could clean at the speed of lightning, make Super Dinner, and be Super cool in my Super outfit. But, alas. I will have to clean at the speed of slow and make regular dinner in my regular mom outfit. sigh.

The time has finally come where we have found out the possible sites for Kyle senior year. For his senior year he does an externship (It is an 11-month commitment) at one of the hospitals listed below.

You may say pick that one or that one sounds good. I wish it was that easy. What happens is in about two weeks. All the students in the program. They are also allowed to bring one other person to be there to, (which I am grateful because I wanted to be there. To witness what was going to happen next in my life.) They all meet with the teachers and put all the names of the hospitals that are on the list into a hat. A hospital name is pulled out randomly. Who ever wants to go to that hospital (site) puts their name into a hat. A name is pulled out- You are the winner !! and get to go to that site. If your name is not pulled you get to keep putting your name into the hat for a site until your name is called. After all the people and sites have been placed together they get 48 hours to trade with one another, if they want to. In way we are going to be playing the lottery with the next year of our life in two weeks. Kind of weird saying that about the lottery and then saying that we are going to be fasting and praying hard that we will be guided in choosing the right one for our family and future. Please keep us in your prayers.

You may wonder what will he be doing when he is in an actual hospital. Here is a brief explanation of Nuclear Medicine. The Division of Nuclear Medicine provides scans of organs and body systems, including positron emission tomography (PET). Routine tests include but are not limited to the brain, cerebrospinal fluid, thyroid, lung, liver, biliary system, kidney, and bone. Other studies, such as radionuclide cystograms, testicular scintigrams, detection of gastrointestinal bleeding, patency tests for CSF shunts, Leveen shunts, venograms, gallium and white blood cell scans are also available on both inpatient and outpatient basis. The division also offers gastroenterological function testing for gastroesophageal reflux, gastric emptying and esophageal transit time measurement. Nuclear Medicine has a Nuclear Cardiology section which performs all types of scintigraphy including myocardial perfusion tomography. The In Vitro Laboratory provides measurements of red cell mass and plasma volume, red cell and platelet survival, Schilling tests, thyroid uptake and renal global function evaluation, including both effective renal plasma flow and glomerular filtration rate. I know it kind of went over my head too. But basically it comes down to, that these test show what is internally functioning in your body. Rather then what the internally anatomy is such as bones.

Just a Quick Trip Around the Block

This Saturday we needed to make a trip to the bank. Where : Medford. You ask why all the way to Medford to just go to the bank. We knew we weren't going to be here at school that long, we didn't didn't transfer to a bank down here... so Medford here we come (closest one to us, an hour away). While in Medford we, the kids and I had some fun while there. Made our first stop at the bank. Then to Target. I LOVE going to Target, even if it is just to walk around. Like we did...

I should have bought some popcorn for them to eat as we walked the store.
But the toy aisle seem to make them happy.
Karlee found some friends that she took a liking too.

Next stop was Costco.
Kallie was in heaven when she found a can of tuna the size of her head.

While the other kids finished their hot dogs.
Karlee was finding her "button", that is what she calls her belly button.
But she was so confused because it was covered up by her onise.

Made it back to town in time for Jaron to go to a birthday party. He was so excited to go. They played hockey. He had so much fun. It was a fun day all day long. I love spending time with my kids and I know that this time will pass so quickly. But they are so much fun.

Family Valentine

After church I told everyone to stay in their church clothes for dinner.
They asked "Why?"
For a formal Valentine family dinner.

The kids all got excited to help me make the dinner, to decorate the table and hang the hearts. Kelsie wanted to eat the sweetheart candy that we had scattered on the table, so she would put them in pile and Jaron said that "they needed to be all over the table so that it will be beautiful." He was so excited about it, he was so cute. We are showing our sweetheart name cards that we made for our dinner.

As we were trying to get a good place to place the camera to do self-timer for our family picture. Jaron was trying out his poses and he really liked this one. Kallie and Jaron are both so cute, they were so excited for our family dinner. Maybe we should make this a tradition to do every year.

We gave each of the kids some chocolate for their valentines. They we all eager to eat it. Karlee was really excited to get it. She was trying to get them open faster then she could eat them. Her new thing lately is that she will ask you to do something and when you say no. She will say "Plleeeaassee" she draws it out and says it with a smile. Makes you want to give in say yes. She picked it up from Kelsie.

After dinner we taught the kids how to play Skip-Bo the game. Kyle and I played the game the whole time we dated and fell in love during. So seemed a perfect game to teach the kids to play on Valentines Day...

Birthday, Pink, Birthday

Ever since Jaron's birthday all the kids have been counting down the days until their birthdays and coming up with themes for their parties. Even Jaron. Yesterday Kallie informed me that it was exactly two months till her birthday. Kelsie piped up and asked me how long until her birthday, I told her; four months and eight days. She was devastated and said that she could not make it that long.She has been in love with this book lately "Pinkalilicous", always wanting to read it and wear pink (as you can see from the outfit above that she put together). Now she is on this kick about her birthday party, always talking about it and making sure that I remember it all. That she wants pink cupcakes, with pink streamers and pink balloons and a giant pink cupcake cake. I think we have found the theme for her birthday party. Kyle has even gotten into it, I told him about her Pinkalilicous-itis. And he came up with an idea that he should cover himself in pink paint and show up before the party saying to Kelsie, "Look what happen when I ate your party food, I turned Pink". "Pink-a-boo... Just like her little brother in the book. I think that it is so cool that he thinks about his kids parties too and comes up with ideas.

Unfortunately there are two more before her's and we still don't know what their themes are. Believe me Kallie has been deep in thought about it, she has even done a survey among my family. So if you have any ideas of a theme for a 10 year old birthday party.

Easy Oreo Truffles w/ the YW

For our Young Women's activity last night we made these YUMMY! Oreo Truffles for Valentine's treats. I had totally planned on making them before the activity so that when I was telling the girls what to do I would have some kind of clue. Well I kept putting it off and off. And ended up never making them thinking they would take so long. But they don't. I was reading over the recipe before the activity and not quite following it right (if you want the recipe click on Yummy and it will take you to it). So I gave my great friend Heidi a call, 20 minutes before the activity and she gave me the best hint- to use a food processor or blender to crush up the cookies and cream in the cream cheese. I was able to round up some machines before the activity. Let me tell you it made the process go a lot quicker. We had 12 girls show up to the activity it was tight in the church kitchen but they had fun. I still haven't made any myself or even tasted one but I here they are really good. I wonder if you use different flavors of Oreo if they are still good. Here are a couple pictures from the night.
