Gimmie Some Cookies

Pleeeeease.....

For a couple of days now I had this impression to get in contact with a friend in the area here. But I kept putting it off. And dismissing it, but it just kept coming back. I wanted to check up on her but I didn't want to show up empty handed. I decided that I would make some cookies to take over to her. Who doesn't like cookies? But I realized I was out of butter.
NUTS!
What cookies could I make without butter?? I went through my recipe binder ( I kind of expanded from the recipe box). I found a recipe that didn't call for butter.
YAY!
It was a recipe from my good friend. From my childhood, when I would go over to her house to play, her mom was always making cookie dough or baking cookies from dough that she had frozen (I loved that, who wouldn't). Sometime we got to help, but always we would get some yummy cookies to eat. This was one of the fun cookies because you got to roll it in powder sugar and watch it crackle as it baked.

Karlee wanted to me fix the cookies, she help me dump the dry ingredients into the bowl until she found where I putting the dirty dishes, in the sink and then left me to go "wash the dishes".

Here is the recipe for Chocolate Crinkles Cookies:

1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla (used my cousins homemade vanilla -YummY)
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup powdered sugar

Mix wet ingredients in one bowl, dry ingredients in another bowl, except for the powdered sugar Then combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix. Heat the oven to 350. Roll the dough into balls and then roll in the powdered sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet for 10- 12 minutes.

After the cookies were done it was in the middle of Karlee's nap- I could not take them over.
Jaron and Kelsie came home.
Help with homework.
Kallie came home from violin.
Run around like mad and get everyone in the car for Scouts and Activity Days (all 4).

*idea* Take them to her on my way.

Stop by her house and drop them off. :0)
Come to find out that her husband is still out of town, will be for another four days and that she had a really hard day. *Something I didn't know : I am her visiting teacher. I just did it cause she my friend, and I am glad to have friends here. But now I know not to dismiss the impressions I am getting.

You're such a nice friend and those cookies sound so tasty! Someone randomly brought me treats last week and it was so nice! I should pay it forward with your tasty cookies!
