Eleventh Day a Sad Goodbye

On the eleventh day and is also the last day :0( We drove Alycia and Lulu up to Anchorage. We are all smiles for the pictures, but we are so sad to see them go. We enjoyed having them here so much. So are so glad that they came. We know that the flight is long but we are glad that they braved it. Thank you so much Alycia and Lulu for coming we had a blast and miss you so much. We love you!

After we dropped them off at the airport. We stopped at a party store to pick up some stuff for Kelsie's birthday party. As we were walking through the store this clown cutout spooked Karlee out. Kinds of freaky. :0)

Tenth Day

On the tenth day that they were here, we stayed in town. We went to the Kenai National Wildlife Refugee.

 First off we went to the visitor center and the kids each did a worksheet to earn a prize. Kelsie and Lulu are here working on their worksheets. Kelsie was so cute when she heard that we going to go hiking she packed a backpack with water, raincoat, rain boots-she was prepared.

 After the visitor center we took a hike. The kids got another worksheet to fill out, they had to find different kinds of trees, animals, and birds along the hike down to the lake. To earn another prize.

 We are halfway thru the hike. It was a fun hike.

 After our hike we went to the best bakery in the area the "Moose is Loose" for some yummy doughnuts.

To end a great day we went to Fred Meyers and the kids enjoyed a ride on a swing. :0)

Ninth Day

On the ninth day it was Memorial Day, Kyle had it off work. We decided to head to Homer and see the Homer Spit. When we got into town it was lunch time, we had told that Stravin Marvin had the best pizza and wanted to give it a try. No such luck it was closed. So we check around with some other restaurants but they were very pricey. So we went to a place that we knew the kids would enjoy and eat the food.

 Then we drove down to the Spit, it is like a boardwalk of stores on a strip of land with water surrounding both sides. So we got out, and walked the boardwalk. On the boardwalk there were a lot of wood carvings and the kids wanted their picture taken by all. Here are some of them.

 After our walk on the board walk we headed down to the beach. It was a beautiful beach- it helped that it was so sunny and warm out. This beach had so many rocks, all the kids were in heaven. Kyle is headed down to the kids to skip rocks, with all the flat ones he found.

 We stop by a visitor center, it pretty neat. It had shows to watch, things for the kids to do. And a little hike out back across the wetlands leading to a beach.

It was a really fun trip to Homer and the weather was beautiful.

Eighth Day

On the eighth day that they were here we went to church. I was so excited to introduce everyone to my sister. It was so much fun to have her there. 

 Later that night we invited our good friends the Sorhus over to enjoy some smore's with us.

 We even gave the reese peanut butter cup smore's a try.

Seventh Day

On the seventh day we took them just the next city over to the Kenai Beach. The beaches here in Alaska remind me a lot of the beaches in Oregon. We needed to wear our winter coats the wind was a blow-in.

 Here is one group shot that I tried to get using my timer, not the best picture.

After the beach we headed over to Kyle's work so that he could show it to Alycia. And we had lunch with him, always a treat.
