Geographic Bee Winner!!

The second day Kallie was at her new school, Kallie said that her whole class stood in a circle and went around and were asked questions about geography, if they got it wrong they got two wrong you had sit down. Kallie made it to the end and tied with another girl. She came home and said that she enjoyed the fun questions about geography, that girl loves her geography she loves looking at maps. We didn't think anymore was going to happen.
The following week she was told that the next day she was going to be in an assembly where all the class winners from 4th - 6th grade were going to compete to be the school winner. I asked if she wanted me to come she told me the time, but asked me not to be there. Luckily Jaron's class went, he was able to be there and cheer her on. He gave her a thumbs up for every right answer she gave, she didn't miss any questions and became the schools Geographic Bee Winner. She said her first question was "Which state has their capital in the Willamette Valley?" She was so excited because she knew the answer and just lived there OREGON!!!
Kallie showing me her medal that she got when she won.
After school I was excited and nervous to hear how it went. Jaron got to me first and asked if I seen Kallie and I said no, he said I will wait and let her tell you. Shortly after that Kallie came up to me trying to hide a smile but it seemed to be bursting at the seams. I asked her how it went and she pulled out the medal and said that she won. Great Job Kallie!
The following she took written test consisting of 70 questions. The school will then mail it to Anchorage to see  who wins for Alaska I guess. She feels that she did okay on the test. So we will see, they say we won't hear anything until March if anything.
The school has a weekly news letter and this was written in it:

GRADES 4, 5, AND 6 COMPETE IN
 SCHOOL GEOGRAPHY BEE

Congratulations to Kallie Kenner for winning the school Geography Bee competition on Thursday Jan. 10. The girl from her class (it list her name, but I withheld) was runner-up.
Classroom competitions were held and the classroom winners were as followed: (I withheld the names but there were eight kids total that competed.)
School winners across the United States will now take a written test; up to 100 of the top scorers in each state will be eligible to compete in their state Bee on March 30, 2012. The National Geographic Society will provide a trip to Washington D.C. and $100 for the state champions and their teacher escorts to participate in the national competition May 22-24, 2012. The first place national winner will receive a $25,000 scholarship. Good Luck, Wade! (I think they cut and paste the last paragraph from last year news letter, because there was no one name Wade that participated this year.)
