Going to State

Kallie recieved a letter today:

Congratulations! Kallie you have qualified to represent your school and participate at the state level of the National Geographic Bee, sponsored by Google and Plum Creek. The state Bee will be Held on Friday, March 30, 2012 in Anchorage....

This is what we know that the format of the day will go.' Contestants who qualified for the state level will be divided into groups for preliminary rounds. It is an oral competition with each student receiving questions in the practice round and eight preliminary rounds. The students with the top ten scores from the preliminary rounds will advance to the final competition. There may be a need for a tiebreaker to determine the top ten scorers. The Final Round is for the most part oral. There are two questions that require all students to write there answers. The Final Round determines two finalists who will then compete in the Championship Round. The two finalists start the Championship Round with a clean slate.'

During spring break I went over questions with Kallie, she amazed me by all she knew. We were having her studying tons for it, but I think it has taken the fun out of it for Kallie. She loves geography and knows it and we are just going to let her have fun with competition and enjoy the experience. But she does want to do well and she has been praying and fasting that she will.

We love you Kallie and are so proud of you!
