For spring break we had planned on taking a mini vacation to Anchorage and checking it out as a family. But Kallie won the opportunity to go to the state geographic bee for her school at the end of March. So we put our trip off until then. And here are the adventures of our trip...The bee was early Friday morning so we took the kids out of school to make it up to Anchorage and have some fun. We went to Target and enjoyed some time there- each kid was able to pick out a $10 toy, (luckily Karlee picked out a stuffed dog on clearance for $3.64, she says it is Bob's dad but still loves Bob more.) We went and had dinner at IHOP (which was the only sit down restaurant we did all weekend), we were lucky to have breakfast provided at the hotel.
Here we are picking out our dinner choices.
Karlee tasting a lemon, she actually liked it and went back for some more.
Kelsie excited to be at the restaurant and get to pick out her own meal.
Karlee making herself a bib, but finally gave up figuring out the napkin was to small to work.
Karlee was so funny. The french fries were hot and so she figure if she used the coaster as a hot pad that they wouldn't be so hot. But when she got it to her mouth she realized they were still hot to the taste.
Since the kids got a kids meal they got a ice cream sundae to go with the meal. They were so excited for them. And they looked yummy- they reminded me of the sundaes we made for Kelsie's Fancy Nancy party.
Kelsie was telling us that the proper way to eat your sundae was to have your pinkie up. Her and Karlee tried so hard to have their pinkies up as they ate their treat.
We were so lucky to have Velma with us on this trip.
Kelsie wanted to wear her Velma outfit and glasses the whole trip.
Here we are getting to our room. The kids all wanted to be the one to open the door with the key.
After we got settled in, the kids rushed to put their swimsuits on and we headed down to the pool. After swimming and getting washed up we watched a Smurfs from the Redbox, I am sad that we don't have them back home- I have all these free coupons. It was a fun first day.
