Mini Vacation- Day Two

We woke up really early and headed down and got breakfast at the hotel. Then headed out to drop Kyle and Kallie off at the State Geographic Bee, She was nervous for the unknown. The below picture was taken as we dropped them off and wished her luck.
While Kallie and Kyle were at the bee I took the other kids to get the oil changed in the van. I thought with us being one of the first ones there as it opened that we would get in and out quick. No such luck- we were in the stall for one hour and forty five minutes. I had stayed in the car with the kids because Karlee had fallen a sleep and I figured we would be gone before she woke up. She woke up half hour into it. Once we got done with our oil change we headed to what I thought was a dollar store called the Dollar Zone, turns out not really. Just happen to be a store that rounds it prices to the closest dollar. Then we headed back to pick Kallie and Kyle up for Lunch and hear how it went.
As we wait in the car for them we got a phone call from Kyle, telling us that Kallie was headed to a tie breaker. She had made it through the first couple rounds and then got one wrong in like the fourth round. Once they had all the kids that had not missed any questions. They had a total of six kids, but they needed ten. So from the kids that only missed one question  moved onto a tie breaker round to see who would get the four spots. She went for that, made it when there was only 11 left in the group and then she missed her question-so she was out. The four that didn't miss any out of that group moved onto the final round of the top ten.
Kallie was in a bad mood with tears in her eyes when she met up with us for lunch, not even Arbys her favorite restaurant seemed to cheer her up. We told her how proud we were of her and that she did do really well and next year can give it another try.
Kallie and I then headed back over to the Bee to watch the final ten and see who won. It was fun to watch Kallie and I sat on the back row mouthing the answers to each other (I usually ended up with the wrong answer :0) The boy who won, won last year and could possibly win two more times he is also a sixth grader- Kallie figure that she has to study really hard to go up against him and win. Here is a link about the bee and the winner. Alaska State National Geographic Bee.
After they had the winner and gave them their prizes, and the mayor spoke. They then called up all the kids that participated and received their certificate and t-shirts. Kallie did really well and I am proud of her. After the awards they had reception of punch and cake, she want to go up and congraduate the winner, but he was in a mob of people. After the whole thing was over she was in a better mood and was excited to try again next year, which I was glad to see. She was excited to show the family her shirt and all her goodies.
We headed back to the hotel and rest for a minute and go swimming when no one would be at the pool. :0)

After swimming we got washed and dressed and headed to the dollar theater to see HUGO. We all really like the show, well Karlee had a hard time one point she was ready to just walk of the theater. But she came back and enjoyed the rest of the show.
Funny faces in the theater.

After the show we grabbed a pizza and Redbox and headed back to the hotel to enjoy. We were kind of wasted by the time we got back that we didn't get to the Redbox and just headed to bed.
